beachfront park improvements

A detailed top-down layout of a waterfront park with sports fields and recreational areas.

Summer 2026!

Our shared community vision for an improved Beachfront Park will finally come to fruition this summer! In 2024 the Bike Park/Pump Track was completed as well as the 1-mile loop, which appear to be getting plenty of use. This summer the final pieces of the park redesign will come together with the completion of the Tolowa Cultural Trail, ADA-Playground (expansion of Kids Town), Waterfront Plaza, and Amphitheater.

From Plans...

...To Reality

There are moments in time when the energy is right to make something momentous happen. For the City of Crescent City, that moment occurred in 2022 with the award of over $8 million in Prop 68 funding. The City had previously received Coastal Conservancy grant funding to bring the long-awaited Beachfront Park Master Plan to life and with that was able to secure the Prop 68 funding for construction. The focus for this project is to establish a coastal destination for residents and visitors alike to recreate, relax, connect to the land, and engage in learning about this region's past and present. The 35 acres of waterfront property that make up Beachfront Park is adjacent to Downtown Crescent City, within a block of visitors traveling north and south along coastal highway 101, and lies within the ancestral homelands of the Tolowa people. The park is destined to become a community gathering place for all residents (young and old, all nationalities, and all abilities) and a place for visitors to start their north coast California adventure.
