The City of Crescent City manages a diverse and strategically aligned grant portfolio that leverages federal, state, and private funding to advance community development priorities, infrastructure renewal, housing stability, and economic revitalization. As a non-entitlement jurisdiction, the City primarily competes for funding through agencies such as FEMA, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), California Coastal Conservancy, and other infrastructure and resilience-focused programs. The City has also seen great success competing for private funding opportunities through agencies such as the California Endowment and the Mellon Foundation.
Collectively, these funding sources have supported and continue to support a wide range of investments, including public facility rehabilitation, affordable housing, sewer and storm drain improvements, street improvements, coastal access enhancements, fire and emergency services infrastructure, and public services such as the Food Pantry and Sexual Assault Services. Recent grant-funded initiatives have also included economic development programming, downtown improvement efforts, and resilience planning in response to seismic and coastal hazards.
The City’s grant portfolio reflects a deliberate strategy to align external funding with locally identified priorities, maximize limited local resources, and implement high-impact projects that improve quality of life, strengthen infrastructure systems, and support long-term economic sustainability for the Crescent City community.
