The electric box mural project is a public art initiative that transforms electrical control boxes into small-scale works of art. Local artists are commissioned to design and apply murals or vinyl wraps to these otherwise utilitarian structures, turning them into visually engaging features within the streetscape.
The purpose of this project is to enhance neighborhood aesthetics, deter graffiti and vandalism, and create a stronger sense of place. The designs will reflect local history, culture, natural landscapes, or community identity, making each box a unique expression of the area. Because of their visibility and relatively low cost, electric box mural projects are an effective and scalable way for cities to integrate public art into everyday infrastructure while supporting local artists and community pride. All necessary contracts are in place and the locations for the first round of murals have been selected. The designs will go before the Planning Commission for approval very soon.
